Instagram’s Beloved ‘Add Post to Story’ Option Is Back!

Who is glad Instagram reverted to the ‘Share to Story’ vs that much-hated ‘Reshare’ sticker? We know we are!

In a recent email to Marketing Brew, Instagram confirmed that they have reinstated the ‘Add post to Story’ feature on the Feeds Post for all users and done away with ‘Reshare’ that received a tonne of negative feedback from the Instagram community after it was introduced as a test in July this year.

The ‘Reshare’ feature was introduced to discourage users from re-pasting the entire Feed post into a Stories frame and to allow them to be a bit more creative with the content by adding stickers. However, this was met with opposition from users, especially businesses that have been using Stories re-sharing to amplify posts about their brand and products. Instagram has responded by ending the test.

How to get the ‘Add Post to Story’

Steps to enable the ‘Add post to your Story’ on Instagram:

  • Step 1: First of all, open the Instagram app on your device and swipe right, and tap on ‘Settings’.

  • Step 2: Then tap on Privacy followed by tapping on the story icon.

  • Step 3: Scroll down & tap on the ‘Allow Sharing to Story’. If this is not enabled then other people will not be able to share your stories.

  • Step 4: Now, go to any post you want to add to your story and tap on the Arrow icon it will display the option to add a post to the story.

Update Instagram

A common reason why the ‘Add Post to Your Story’ feature is missing is that your Instagram is outdated.

  • Step 1: Open Google Play Store, tap on the menu, and tap on My Apps & Games.

  • Step 2: Apps that are outdated will have an update button, you can also search for the Instagram app.

  • Step 3: Once you found Instagram, tap on Update to update Instagram to the latest version.

Here’s how you can update Instagram on an iPhone:

  • Step 1: Open the App Store and tap on the Profile icon at the top-right hand corner of your screen.

  • Step 2: Scroll down and find the Instagram app.

  • Step 3: Tap on Update to update Instagram to the latest version.
