TikTok Is Testing A New Tipping Feature With Select Creators

There’s now yet another way to make money online. A new feature recently appeared on TikTok’s social media platform. Creator Jera Bean discovered the feature and shared her findings in her own video. This feature allows users to give and receive tips directly through the TikTok app.

If you’ve considered starting a TikTok account, here’s yet another reason to. Monetary opportunities continue to grow for those who have built a following on social media. And this new feature is one such example.

Giving a Tip

Preset amounts of $5, $10 and $15 or a custom amount can be gifted to a TikTok account with the tipping feature active. No percentage is taken by TikTok at the moment, although this feature is being tested and terms may change in the future. This is exciting news for content creators and businesses on the platform.

An account must have tipping activated on their account in order for a user to tip. If active, a tipping section can be seen on the user’s TikTok profile. You can choose to tip anonymously. Until now tipping has only been available on TikTok LIVE streams.

How to Get the Tipping Feature

Of course, tipping doesn’t automatically appear on all accounts. And the feature isn’t available for everyone. It appears users must meet the age requirement set by TikTok and have at least 100,000 followers to be considered.

If your account meets these requirements, you can apply to add this tipping feature to your profile. It’s unclear how long the approval process takes and how selective approval is. This feature is currently being tested and it isn’t clear how many accounts will be accepted.

Advice for Smaller Accounts

What if your account doesn’t have 100,000 followers? For the moment tipping won’t be available to you. Because this feature is being tested, it’s possible requirements to apply may change in the future. But if there’s one thing we can learn from this release, it’s that having a following is powerful. The larger your following, the more opportunities will be open and available to you.

Making Money on Social Media

What began as a way for people to connect and share online is quickly evolving into a vast digital landscape of monetary opportunity. This is just one example. More and more people use social media to make purchasing decisions or to learn about a product or service. And with over 1 billion people using TikTok, your content can reach a lot of people.

If you have a TikTok account, this tipping feature is one more reason to start investing more time developing your following. If you don’t have a TikTok account, this is just one of many ways you can make money through the platform. Having a strong following on social media can bring you far.

To all TikTok Users

Now is the time to apply for the tipping feature if your TikTok account is eligible. Beat the crowd and stand out as one of the first to have tips available. Share your knowledge about the feature and how it is going for you.

TikTok has proven their dedication to providing more and more opportunities to make money as a creator on their app. From brand deals and sponsorships to tipping during LIVE streams and now tipping available anytime on your TikTok profile. This feature makes TikTok a competitor for the professional online content creator space, next to sites like YouTube and Instagram. Time will tell how this tipping feature test goes but one thing is certain, making money online just got even easier.
